Antony Mwelu is a photographer who works regularly on assignment for the Mwelu foundation a youth group based in Mathare slum which empowers youths to help them realize their potential through photography, film production and building essential life skills.
Antony’s books include Julius Mwelu and the Mwelu foundation, which features some of his photographs and pictures of other members of the Mwelu foundation. The other book is called Shoot back 2 published by Mathare Youth Sports and Association (MYSA). He is currently working with different projects to publish more books. An accomplished student photographer, Antony is always involved within his community in organizing events as environmental clean-ups and visits to other vulnerable groups. Recently they (Mwelu Foundation) began a livelihoods program-me in the areas of reproductive health and computer literacy training. Antony believes that teaching young people useful and creative skills will not only teach them employable skills, but change the way they perceive the world we live in. Antony is also a Peer trainer and often hold workshops at local schools, and pass a passion for photography, film making, as well as a positive attitude. |
